I love this saying, and when I first heard it, it hit me hard!

How many of us let the idea that we must have something done perfectly before we put it out there? That we must have the plan and outcome fully baked, or that we need to have more experience before applying for that dream job, or that we need to have our brand just right before we publish or post?

We hear that voice inside us saying “what will it look like if it’s not perfect, what will people think or say? Will I be judged?

These self-doubting thoughts can keep us stuck!

Another way to look at it is to ask yourself, what opportunities to grow and learn will I miss if I don’t try?

Like I talked about last week when discussing a growth mindset, the struggle is hugely important to growth, so if we’re afraid to fail, or not be perfect before starting something new, then how will we grow and learn?

The irony is, that what you might think is perfect, may not be what you want in the long run after all.

I find that when first developing an idea or working on something new, what happens is, your course will change based on the learnings and experiences you have during the process and as a result, what you end up with is not what you planned when you started!

Often, to your surprise, the result is better and filled with more depth than if you had put out your idea perfectly. But, you would never know this without trying!

By taking that baby step, and then many steps, you will be on a path that winds toward your goal, and while it’s never a direct line, this is where you will experience the beauty of growth!

What would it look like for you to move forward with the belief that what you’re creating is good enough, and let go of the idea that something must be perfect before you begin?
